Lighted Canvas Training

I forgot to mention how much fun we all had, Monday night, at the lighted canvas training session.
Artists from five studios getting together to learn something new to teach our customers....
Thank You so much for a great evening.....

Day 28 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                       "Brass Bowl"

                      Mixed Medium
{Ink Joy Gel Pen, Oil Pastel, color Pencil}
                          # 23
This little piece was done on black paper, in the Dentist office while waiting for Wy to get a tooth pulled...
Not my best but feeling the pressure, as the month rushes on...
I am so behind, but as I look at Facebook memories, I see that I have been before and was able to make it up in the end...
We shall see, but ,
yesterday I also got # 24 painted and here it is,
 Something completely different.
                       " Camping by the Beach"

                 16x20
            Acrylic on Canvas

This little suitcase belonged to Wyman's mom "Prissy",
One of Amy's special  treasures.......
I had fun doing this painting, and I am pretty happy with it..
may need more work but will live with it for a bit.... .
It  has been one I was looking forward to.....
I still have stuff to do so, hope you all have a nice evening.... until tomorrow, bye for now....

Day 21 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                              10 x 20
                   Acrylic on Canvas
I just got home from work and am much to tired, to even come up with a title for the painting I finished for today...
It is a pair of slippers ,a pair of boots and a purse....
Maybe tomorrow a name to fit it will come to me.....
Hope everyone stays safe tonight...
See you in the day to come...

Day 20 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                                 "Hair Care Too"
                                      5x7
                              Acrylic on Canvas

I painted this on another 5x7 ,big block canvas,[that's what I call them]
They are 2 inches thick and I got 4 of them on sale a while back,
 2 5x7s and 2 6x6s....
So two finished, two to do....
I am noticing a lot of purple in my backgrounds in this collection, because that is the cast shadow color from which they are placed....
might also be my favorite, just saying...
Have a good day all,
see you tomorrow.....

Monday, September 19, 2016

Day 19 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                             "Hat Stand"
                                11x14
                      Acrylic On Canvas

I liked where this hat is stashed, right on top of a little ceramic piece of Margaret's...
I know I was not able to do it justice,
but I tried ,and I like how bright and colorful it is ....
The hat band is painted bright green but in this picture it looks yellow...
Oh well,
Tomorrow will be here before we know it and lets see what I pick to paint ...
Bye for now....

Sunday, September 18, 2016

Day 18 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                             "Hair Care Shelf"
                                 5x7
                         Acrylic on Canvas

Man the small canvas paintings are kicking  my butt....
I thought they would be a bit easier and faster, but I am stressed out after this one...
It's back to big for me tomorrow.....
It also could be that I had a lot to do before I could get to this today that helped with the stress, but it is done for now.
Me being a morning person ,it was and bit
of a late start...
Hope you had a good Sunday and can start the week out on the right foot, as they say...
See you tomorrow.....

Day 17 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                             " Beach Day"
                                 5x5
                          Acrylic on Canvas
It is finished , my day 17, and my second 5x5 ,so I am pleased..
This little miniature , is a lot like a painting I did of the beach at Fred Howard Park...
Still one of my favorite beaches...
Mom went home from the hospital yesterday, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!!
She is banged up, but seems to have done no real damage to herself....It sure does look bad, one whole side of her face and both eyes black and blue....
We all feel very lucky, that at 90 years old ,she was not hurt any worse....
Have a nice Saturday night folks, and I will see you tomorrow.....

Friday, September 16, 2016

Day 16 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                       "Auntie Q's Sitting Shoes"
                             11x14
                       Acrylic on Canvas
I just finished painting this one ,so have not really taken the time to study it...
So I will have to decide later if it is going to need some tweeking....
To many tubs of slaw today ,to take the time to do that now....
I have got to get dressed now and get moving...
Hope everyone has a good Friday and a great weekend...
 Bye for now,see you tomorrow.....

Day 15 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                      "One Derby Day Hat"
                                11x14
                       Acrylic on Canvas

Auntie Q has had many a Derby Day party, with hats and mint Julips included, and this is just one of the hats that took part....
A black and white hat with a large pop of color....
I had already done a small sketch of this one in my sketchbook , but it deserved the brightness of the acrylic paints to do it justice.....
I do not know what will be next on the paint list, but this is number 15 and that makes it half way there... Yeah! Thank You ,Thank You ,Thank You.....
With my Mom in the Hospital ,I do not know whats to come, but hope to be able to keep this up to the end of the month...We shall see .... Even if I am a few days behind I am going to try....
Please stay healthy and safe guys..
bye for now.....

Day 14 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                                     Amy's Tools
                                       9x12
                                   Mixed Medium
Day 14's painting ,I used Acrylics, Pastels, Le'Pens, Prisma color marker, and Prisma colored pencils....
It was a fun piece to do and I am happy with the bright colored finished product...
Now I am heading back to the hospital to spend the night with my mom, who fell yesterday and is not doing to well...
Thank you for all the concerned prayers and well wishes.....

Day 13 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                        "Island Time"
                           5x5
                      Acrylic on Canvas
Painting something a little different again today...
I try to do one or two of these every year about this time.
Here is the first one....
A fun little beach scene to loosen me up, after all the still life paintings I have been getting after....
It is yet another day,I will be moving fast and furiously, to get as many things finished as possible, before heading to work...
Talk about multi tasking.
It seems I am starting to try and take it to a whole new level....
So while it is still early,I am stopping here, and getting on with the day.
Lets see what, if anything ,gets done...
More tomorrow, see you here...
Have a good day.. Bye for now....

Monday, September 12, 2016

Day 12 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                       "Bangles"
                           9x12
                    "Mixed Medium"
I did something a bit different here with Day 12's painting...
I decided to try using pastel paper,
and to work with Color Pencil, Pastels and Pen...
Auntie Q's bangles are displayed on a blue wine bottle, which I think makes for a nice composition...
I really had fun playing with different tools, to achieve, a different out come .
I am pleased to have done this and happy with the results too....

We are back to record heat here again after last weeks taste of a tiny bit cooler weather...
Ah, Florida, It is a good thing I love you......
or I would head for higher ground...

I have a day off today, but much work to do, both for work and for home so, better get at it....
Just finished this pre-paint of new art work that I am teaching Wednesday, September 14th. Two days away... Come paint it with me, Please!!!!

Have a happy Monday everyone...
See you tomorrow....

Sunday, September 11, 2016

Day 10 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                     " Croatia, Ms. Universe Shoes"
                               8x10
                       Acrylic on Canvas
These are some great shoes, but I could never wear them,
TOO high a heel for me....
I am very happy to get the chance see them, and to Paint them.
The cream color shoes with a gray mesh, needed a brighter background,
with the shadows, to bring the shoes forward...
[at least that was the idea ,I was going for.]
Amy's closet is full of so many interesting things.
It has been fun to explore and pick subjects to paint....
{Thank You Jalyn, for working The Ms. Universe Pageant, in Russia, and coming home with these.}
Time to get on with the day, Saturday, my favorite day....
Hope you have time to get out and create...
See you back here tomorrow ....

Day 11 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                  Auntie Q's Earrings
                          9x12
                 Acrylic on Canvas

I like this little painting, with the bright green frame and colorful earrings, but I did struggle a bit, trying to convey the screening they are hanging on...
I am still not sure I was able to,but overall, I am happy with it......

I had a very nice day yesterday, getting to together with the ladies for breakfast, just like we used to for the old breakfast club..
It has been way to long and I really have missed it.....
Last night I had a good group of people come paint with me and everyone did a great job with the painting, and we all had fun with it.....
Don't ya'll just love Saturdays????
Today my class is sold out and I am teaching a special painting for the movie,"Beauty and the Beast". This should be a very fun class.....

On a somber note,
 WE WILL NEVER FORGET......
And how could it have been 15 years ago???
It seems like yesterday,it is so fresh in the mind...

We are back to HOT< HOT <HOT  again so everyone try to keep your cool and have a restful Sunday...
See you tomorrow , with something completely different.....

Friday, September 9, 2016

Day 9 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                      " Amy's Itty Bitty"
                             8x10
                   Acrylic on Canvas

Bitty is a great cat. Not so itty bitty now though....
He has been trying to take care of Amy, through out this whole ordeal that Amy is dealing with,by insisting he sleep on Amy's chest nightly....
So helpful, but we know the cat is very concerned about his mama...
Animals do know when something is wrong and do what they can to help....
I am not as pleased with the outcome of this painting but, I may try to work on it after the 30 day challenge is over... no time now though...
Happy Friday everyone...
Hope it's a good one and you have a very nice weekend...
I have to get to work....

Thursday, September 8, 2016

Day 8 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                         " Auntie Q Classic"
                              8x10
                        Acrylic on Canvas

I think this little antique hat is the cutest.....
Fun times painting it, with it's bright color and netting ,small cap and fairly large bow....
Cute, Cute, Cute.....
[can you tell I am pleased with the way this one came out????]

Yesterday went well with the port removal, although there is pain and discomfort..
It is one more hurdle she has made it over ...
Hopefully not many more of them to come....

Here we are to Thursday already, September 8th. What??
Where is this year going in such a hurry???
Anyway you guys have a good one and I am going to get to work now on my next new piece....

Wednesday, September 7, 2016

Day 7 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                                          "Caps"
                                         11x14
                                     Acrylic on Canvas

A big Thank You to "The Betty's" for the inspiration for this piece,
I am very pleased with this painting...
Lots of color, light and shade...
It took many tries, before I was finally able to arrange the caps, for the shape and angle to please the eye ...
It was well worth the effort to be able to be happy with the final composition, before settling down to paint it..
This September session of paintings is the first time I have done so many still life paintings ever... Landscapes have been my thing, and I must say, I am having a good time with a whole new area of subjects....

Today is a big day for us, Amy gets her port out, so it is time for me to get moving and get it in gear...
Hope everyone has a good one, and send good thoughts our way for this next step in this journey we are on as a family....

Tuesday, September 6, 2016

Day 6 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                "Beach Ready"
                    16x20
              Acrylic on Canvas

I think this is my favorite Painting so far, in this group of paintings...
It is so bright and colorful...
I love the composition, and it was sitting like this,so there was no need the change anything, I could just start painting...
As is always the way, this painting looks so much better in person....
It makes me wish I was headed to the beach...
Life has me to busy today to be able to fit that in...
I am so Thankful for a bit cooler weather this morning ,it is feeling a bit fall'ish...

On another subject completely, I awoke this morning, before 5, having had my first nightmare in many, many years..
WHAT THE HECK WAS THAT???
I always wake up between 5 and 6, but nightmare, not so much a fan....
Here is to hoping your day starts out on a much better note...
I am not going to let it ruin my day !!!
Now it is time to get on with it...
Bye, talk to you again tomorrow....

Monday, September 5, 2016

Day 5 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                            "POP POP'S  HAT"
                                8x10
                           Acrylic on canvas

I really like the contrast between light and dark in this painting...
The real hat is all one color gray, even the band, but I took artist license with this one and made the band white instead...
What do you guys think? Should I have left it the same gray color?
So far, it is one of my favorites, but many more yet to paint, so we shall see...

I had some fun yesterday at a meet up with The Tampa Outdoor Artist.
I am brand new to this group and it was great to meet new people in my area with such talents. I loved that because it is way to warm outside ,we got to meet at the brand new art store in Tampa.
Thank You Dick Blick, for hosting this great bunch of artist's as we gathered to paint and draw...

I only got a start on my drawing before it was time to leave....
Thank You Susan for inviting me to join this special group of artists.

                     Lots of talented artists here.....

Happy Labor Day to all...
Hope everyone has a nice relaxing day, what ever you are able to do.....

Sunday, September 4, 2016

Day 4 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                      Auntie Q's Make Up Bowl
                          8x10
                       Acrylic on canvas

What a cute little green bowl...
I had a bit of trouble getting the perspective on this little bowl of make up.
I am now however, pretty happy with the results, after reworking it several times....
I have only begun to explore the choices in this collection....
We shall see which items will be next on the list.
It is so much more fun to jump around,
to all different subjects in this girly girl world, from the modern to the antique.

I had great fun last night leading the class of 15 people painting the black shoes with red bottoms..
Everyone did such a great job and seem to have a good time doing it too....
Sure makes it fun to go to work on a Saturday night....
Thank You.. Thank You.. Thank You!!!!! for such a great job!!!!

Saturday, September 3, 2016

Day 3 of 30 paintings in 30 days

Auntie Q's Shoes
8x10
Acrylic
Auntie Q's collection is a great example of  many styles, and lots of verity.
This makes for hard choices, each day, with each event attending.........................
It is so much fun for someone like me,the artist, to make decisions on what to paint next....
we shall see what is up next after doing these,oh so cute, bright green shoes...

The weather has finally gone back to our regular rain pattern for this time of year, and I am so Thankful for being spared any real damage...

I am off to work early today and also have a late class so I will be back here tomorrow with a new painting to show you guys... Have a great holiday weekend and stay safe......

Friday, September 2, 2016

Day 2 of 30 paintings in 30 days

     Auntie Q's     " Pink Tennies"
                                8x10
                           Acrylic on canvas

Did anyone else have a pair of these great shoes?
I had a good time with this painting, with the memories of the days Amy was in them, having fun, living life....
We are all inside and safe from the hurricane, as it sends the bands of wind and rain our way non-stop for two days now....Thank You,Thank You, Thank You.....
Lots of flooding around us but so far we have been spared that...
I can still hear the thunder booming and it is pouring rain, and the little glass wind chime I got from Doug Beam, is a bit frantic sounding in all this wind....
Hermine is the first hurricane to make land in Florida since 2005....
We have truly been lucky.....Here is hoping the luck holds for everyone in its path....
Please stay safe out there!!!!

Day 1 of 30 paintings in 30 days

                               16x20 A.C.R.
I have decided to Call this group of Paintings "The Auntie Q "collection.
Auntie Q is the name Aidan calls Amy, and the words I use for antique.
Some of the next few paintings are from antique pieces that Amy owns.
The other things are Amy's fascinating, fun, girly collection...
Fun, still life paintings, using acrylic paints,so I do not have the oil paint storage problem ,while they dry...
This is one of Amy's  really cute beach hats, one of my favorites...

There is a tropical storm coming our way today so my class was cancelled tonight...
please everyone down our way, Stay Safe...
More time for painting though, so, fun for me to hunker down and stay inside.....
