Day 29 of 30 in 30 Days

Walking The Dog
9x12 Oil on Canvas

Here is my first attempt at both a person and a dog, and overall I am pleased with number 29...
It does look better live than in this picture....but that has been true with most of them so I am getting used to it now... I just can not believe there is only one more to finish...
W-O-W where did this month go?
What is my last one ?

Day28 of 30 in 30 Days

Deer in The Yard
16x20 Oil on Canvas

This is the first day all month that I did not get the painting finished....I did however do seven pre-sketches for pet portraits today and two pre-paints for Monday and Tuesday night classes...I was at work from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M., so no time for personal painting until Sunday morning,...
I am going to try to get two done tomorrow.. I am off so it may happen ... We shall see...

Day 27 of 30 in 30 Days

Snow on Dick's Creek
8x10 Oil on Canvas

I just needed a bit of cool refreshing air so I tried a snow scene.. It really gave me a time, being so small and all, and white...and not a photo yet does it any kind of justice...I am not pleased but it was worth a shot just to get that smile that the first snow fall brings....Maybe if I give it a little time and work on it a bit more... We shall see.. Anyway on to tomorrow...
If I work on it later I will post it again...

Day 26 of 30 in 30 Days

South End Of Fred Howard Park
16x20 Oil on Canvas

What??? I live in Florida, so why is this the first beach scene of the challenge for me???
I have no answer for this because I love the beach.. This one is one of my favorite beaches too....
It is a bright sunny beach day and I feel like I was successful in capturing that...
I did use the palette knife a bit on this one ,and am pleased with the result...
I can not believe we are so close to the end of the challenge now...
What will I come up with next?? I started off with a theme, but have much enjoyed flying by the seat of my pants after the first week...

Day 25 of 30 in 30 Days

 Side Yard in Fall
9x12 Oil on Canvas

Light and shade and lots of bright color for this landscape of fall in the yard..
I guess the color will be long gone by the time I get there again, but I will still be very happy to be there...That view from the hill is a sight to behold...
The dogwoods have such beautiful color, it is amazing...
Well now on to something else...

Day 24 of 30 in 30 Days

Greens Creek Three Red Roofed Barns
16x20 Oil on Canvas
  1.
I have painted these barns before, but in watercolor.. In Fall.
I like the way they turned out in oils...In Spring.
The bright color and creamy texture, plus one of my favorite subjects, made this one a pleasure to paint...
Day 24. WOW  so far so good  and six more to do... Man has this month flown by, but it always does when your having fun....Right?

Day 23 of 30 in 30 days

Tools of the Trade
11x14 Oil on Canvas

Paint brushes in the glasses and jar, no longer see through glasses and jar...
This is a fun one to paint, but I have to keep taking them out to use them so the scene is constantly changing on me.. Oh Well...
Anyone who knows me knows that this is in my breakfast nook/ studio. You can tell by the background color...
I now wish I had used a larger canvas to have been able to extend the brushes a bit higher....
Overall I am pleased though...
Next???

Barn 2 Greens Creek
8x10 Oil on Canvas

I love the barns on Greens Creek and they are plentiful, so I have lots to choose from and lots of subject matter.. Yeah!!
I did not go near a palette knife on this one..
I am pretty pleased with the result...
Waiting to see what mood strikes me.. Tomorrow.....
Hope all are well and are having a wonderful weekend...

Day 20 of 30 in 30 Days

Reds
8x10 Oil on Canvas

I just needed to paint something I did not have to think too much about.. It's okay...
We are at day 20 and only have 10 more to do... I know I will keep painting daily for a while after anyway...
It has been great for me to explore the oils and the use of the palette knife too...
What fun and good practice...

Day 19 of 30 in 30 Days

Linda's Studio
9x12 Oil on Canvas

I just love this building, although Linda no longer has it, I will always think of it as her studio.
I hope I have done it justice.  It's a great old building....nestled into the mountains, between two streams ... I wonder who owns it now and if they use it...
Tomorrow is another day...

Greens Creek Barn
9x12 Oil on Canvas

It's been a whole year since I have laid eyes on this view.
I hope it won't be to much longer but we shall see...
A different size and different subject again today, but it is keeping me on my toes and interested, while trying to learn to use the oil paints...I am still a bit messy with them and still having fun, doing one a day.. Thank You Leslie for issuing this challenge, It has renewed the Artist spirit...

Day 17 of 30 in 30 Days

Color
11x14 Oil on Canvas

Very different from my usual work, all palette knife, lots of thick paint. Abstract, almost anyway...

Day 16 of 30 in 30 Days

Pink Rhododendron
8x10 Oil on Canvas

I decided to do another flower from one of my bushes in the North Carolina yard.
Using brushes and palette knife and playing with pink...
All the teapot paintings were done looking at the pots. All the flowers and all the other things are from the photos I have taken.. so far so good... I do not know what I want to paint next, but lots of ideas....

Holy Smoke we are half way there...
I am so happy to have 15 new paintings ...
This is Pop Pop's little log cabin ... The picture is not great, way too light, but I am liking the content a lot.
It will always be thought of as Pop Pop's...

Red Bag Tea Pot
8x10 Oil on canvas

Back to the tea pots, and this is one of my newest and favorites...

It was Susan's Moms, and Susan passed it on to me.. so cute...
I had a lot of trouble taking a picture of it...I took ten photos and this one is not great but the best I could get. I also can not get the true gold color of the buckles and handle and spout.. Oh Well!! on to the 13th....

Day 10 of 30 in 30 Days

Spring at Lakeshore
11x14 Oil on Canvas

I decided to try something completely different today, something I have not done before.
I did a small painting of my house. I am not happy with it yet, but I did go to the store to pickup more oil paint colors after I painted, so hopefully I can make an improvement on it a bit later... anyway they can't all be winner, winner, chicken dinner....
Lets see how things go tomorrow...

Day 9 of 30 in 30 Days

              African Violet
8x10 Oil on Canvas

I have had this violet for about 5 years now and it keeps on keeping on, even with very little care.
I have always liked them and can remember ones my grandmother had when I was little.
I went for years not being able to keep one alive, until we moved to North Carolina and they did great in the east facing kitchen window. It is still doing well here too.
I have not yet invested a lot in oil paint colors and just have a little starter set, so I am not that happy with some of the color mixing.. I would have liked a little brighter purple..  Oh Well!! I am pretty happy with my  over all results, today anyway... Now lets see, what do I want to work on next?

Sunday, September 8, 2013

Day 8 of 30 in 30 Days

    Tulip Poplar Bloom
    8x10 Oil on Canvas

I picked the Tulip Poplar Flower for todays work..
It is the most delicate bloom, Almost see through, and can almost be missed completely when this tree is blooming...
You really have to look to see them, they blend in so well... I am surprised every year when they appear..
This tree is right off the deck in North Carolina... and I have taken many pictures of it.
glad to finally be painting it.
What up for tomorrow.. Time will tell.

Day 7 of 30 in 30 Days

60.00

Peach Azalea
8x10 Oil on canvas

I could not remember the proper name for this Azalea  whose flower forms a ball, but it grows in the yard in North Carolina, and is one of my favorites... It didn't turn out too bad..
Thank You to everyone one who left a comment on my blog today.. sorry I am so late getting back to you all, but I did not get home from work until after 11:00 p. m.  ... I will be back at work in the a.m. at 9-7:30 p.m. tomorrow... Busy, Busy, Busy.
I guess we shall see what I get painted for day 8....

Friday, September 6, 2013

Day 6 of 30 in 30 Days

60.00
      Red Azalea
         8 x 10
      Oil on Canvas

This little painting is from the Azalea bush just outside of the little cabin Mom lived in while we were in North Carolina...Memories are made of this...
Thank You Leslie Saeta for issuing this challenge, I am really enjoying the whole process.
Starting this challenge was just the distraction I needed at this stressful time in my life.. I am more than excited and grateful to get up each day to start a new Painting in a new medium ... What a blast I am having.... Thank You ! Thank You! Thank You!!!
Okay on to Day 7, and what will it be ??? I know you can't wait to find out....

Thursday, September 5, 2013

Day 5 of 30 in 30 days

60.00
              Pink Peony
               8x10 oil on Canvas

 Look at this... something different
This flower came out of the yard in North Carolina and was dinner plate size when it opened.
Little by little I am getting a bit more comfortable with the oil paints. They sure don't move the same on the canvas as the acrylic paints but they are so smooth and creamy ...I love it...
My next problem is taking a decent picture of the paintings... I guess I need more practice at that too...
Maybe by the time I get through the month I will have the hang of this too....Maybe...

Day 4 30 in 30 days

60.00

                                Two Turtles Tea Pot
                                 8x10 Oil on Canvas

This little teapot short and stout, really gave me a fit to paint.. It is two turtles dancing.. and I started out  painting a dark red background which I really liked but, it was way too dark to let the tea pot show up well...so I took out the trusty palette knife and added white... now its  rough textured and helps to be able to see the two turtles...
I have also had trouble loading my pictures onto the main site all three days and have ended up loading each one two times because I can find no way to delete the first one of each day... bear with me, I will get this right the first time....Soon????

Day 3... 30 in 30 days

60.00

This happy little tea pot makes me smile and made it fun to tackle.
What shall I paint tomorrow?? We shall see....

30 in 30 Day 2

60.00

                               8x10 Oil On Canvas

 Chicken Or Egg Tea Pot

I have some of the cutest tea pots in my 300 piece collection and am having some fun trying to paint them in Oils...
I still have a few I want to do, and then
It will  be time to move to a new subject and maybe, do a few more later in the month...
I am having some trouble with the fact that they take forever to dry... Having used acrylics for so long now...This is going to be really good practice...
Looking forward to tomorrows paint...

First Down .. 30 in 30 days

Red Lips Tea Pot 8x10 Oil on canvas

I am so excited to have gotten back into painting with oils...
I submitted my first tea pot painting...yeah!
 Big step for me...
I painted two more today, the first day of the challenge, so far so good..
We are allowed to do more than one to make up for days we won't be able to paint, so I am going to take advantage of this....
I also tried out the palette knife on some of it and  I am going to like using it again as well...
It has been a very good day so far and I am a very happy girl.......
I picked a theme, for the first week anyway, part of my 300 piece tea pot collection...
don't worry I am not only doing tea pots, Just the first few...
