My new collage

I was able to get all 30 paintings on this one..
Earlier today I ended up with only 28
but they are all here now...
 I am a happy girl..
It took many tries but I never gave up and here is the result...YEAH!!!!!

Day 31 of 30 in 30 Days

 WOW!!!!
Here is my collage and I am so pleased to see them all together...
I have had so much fun playing with the oil paints and making big messes as I learned and grow as an artist ...
Thank You Leslie ,so much for issuing this challenge again and for getting me out of my comfort zone to learn to use oils...
I am so very happy to be able to see what I can do...with a little paint ...
 Good times...

Day 30 of 30 in 30 Days

                         Lemons
                          8x10
                        Oil on Canvas

Lots of nice color and texture on the very last painting of the challenge.
I used the palette knife for the texture..
I wanted to do the lemons because I had already done the grapefruit and the oranges, even if both of those were on the trees.. My lime tree is bare.
A citrus series...
I bought these lemons and they were sitting on the counter waiting...
I have 7 or 8 new paintings to pre- paint for work coming up.
I shall see what I will paint next....

I am very pleased with the color and subject matter..
I think this one is a go...
It looks much better in person, but at least I didn't get the bad flash glare that I have been getting lately.... Thank You, Thank You for that.....

I had a ball watching the sea gulls, watching the people at the beach..
I used a purple for the shadows of the trees and maybe would  have been better of to use a blue, but it is done now so...
I can not believe there are only a few more days in this month... It sure went by fast...

Day 22 of 30 in 30 Days

"Florida Oranges"
8x10
Oil on Canvas

This is the other tree I planted many years ago, and this one has produced fruit for a long time now.. The last two years however ,it has filled with fruit in the rainy season and then every orange completely  dried up as we went into the dry season... so, no oranges for me .
It  is still a very nice tree...
I feel like I was a bit heavy handed with this painting... but it turn out okay...
And some day I might even get the photo right...
Oh well on to the next...

Day 11 of 30 in 30 days

I have worked all day and just got home, so have not finished today's painting yet...But I started one at 6:30 this A.M. ...I will get back to it in just a bit...
Today at work, my class of 36 Girl Scouts were participating to earn a badge in art.. They had to interview me, asking me what is my inspiration as an artist.. I told them about my doing the 30 day challenge, and that the things around me are what I use as my subjects and inspiration.
I gave them examples of what I have done this week, and told them that just like everything else, you have to practice everyday.. I paint or draw almost everyday. One little girl raised her hand and ask if the painting we were doing was my one for today, but I told them no.  I am working at home on a Christmas Cactus that blooms every year at this time and that inspires me to want to get it done on canvas... As I came off stage my boss said to me....You don't have to always say me..( as in  What inspires me)  He is so funny.... anyway that's how my day went, now off to finish a painting....

Day 10 of 30 in 30 days

 "On The Draining Board"
    8x10
Oil on Canvas

This one is really kicking my butt... I am frustrated both with the painting and with taking a picture of it... I have taken a bunch, worked on the painting more, taken a picture and you can see no difference at all, the photo does not show the work done, so... I am just going to pick one and move on.....
One main problem is that I am trying to work too small.. I do much better with larger canvas size...
Anyway... No pain No gain.....Hopefully things will be better on the next one.... Flapping my wings and letting it go.....

Day 9 of 30 in 30 days

Greenwood
12x16
Oil on Canvas
This is one of my favorite places to visit,
and it is at it's best with every thing in bloom.
Lots of light and color in this Painting..
The palette knife was a huge help to get the leaves and flowers on.
Not an easy peasy one but, I have been wanting to do it for a while now, so...
What is on for tomorrow???

Day 8 of 30 in 30 days

Eating Out
8x10
Oil on Canvas

One of the places we like to eat, when the weather is fine ...
Sitting right on the Lake side enjoying the view, and the food..
Nice that it is close to home and that the weather is fine most of the time...
I really struggled with the coffee mug yesterday, so today's went a little more smoothly and was a fun painting to do....
Now what shall I get up to for tomorrows painting...I guess we shall see...

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

Day 7 of 30 in 30 days

Mismatched
8x10
Oil on Canvas
This is my morning coffee cup with lid.. The lid is from an old Christmas mug and it is chipped in at least two places.. The mug is my favorite and holds enough coffee to not feel the need for a second cup . It has a crack in it to, so who knows how much longer I can use it... I have been given other beautiful mugs with lids but this one holds so much more ,I am not ready to give it up yet...
Okay on to the next...

Day 6 of 30 in 30 days

 Aidan At The Beach
11x14
Oil on Canvas
I really had fun with this one .
My first attempt at painting Aidan, and at the beach too.. both my favorite subjects...
I did use a palette knife on this one. I am trying to practice using it more..
Well I am pretty happy with it, so guess it is time to post it and get on to another....

Sunday, January 5, 2014

Day 5 of 30 in 30 days

Max
8x10
Oil on Canvas

I loved this Dog..
Even though it was not my own I still miss him daily...
I did not try to use the palette knife on this one, but because it was small, the brushes were sufficient..
I have painted Max two times before, and he was a dog of many poses, so it still makes it fun to paint him.....
The fact that he was all white makes it a challenge to try to show his personality, {Which he had plenty of}, and still be able to cover the canvas, with lots of color...
As you can tell this is one of my favorite subjects..
Anyway, on to the next...no time to dilly dally...

Saturday, January 4, 2014

Day 4 of 30 in 30 days

"One and Only

                                                                         8x10 Oil painting
I am painting this because I want to remember that this tree finally did bear fruit after many years, even if it is the one and only fruit in it's life so far... I have not picked it yet but I will very soon... I used a combination of brushes and palette knife and am pretty happy with the results...
Now on to the next...
