Last Day of 2017

 

        WOW I have not kept up here , for so many reasons ....
But hope to start up again with the New Year...
These are the things I wish for everyone in this coming year....

Day 19 of 30 in 30 Days

 OK SO I DO NOT HAVE PEOPLE down yet...
I have picked a very awkward view as well...
I have more work to do on it, but for now.....
Anyway... I am trying not to be disappointed in this painting
I have not put in shading or background, so we shall see...
I am very excited to go help with a class at U.S.F. today,
The students are painting a mural,adventures with color...
Should be great fun... Something new for me.....
I sure hope this next storm spares lives, and heads back out into the ocean...

That Time Again

 I am going to start the 30 in 30 days by working on my people skills...
Painting Aidan and his friends splashing in the waves....
.As my first, I am pleased even though it does not look a lot like Aidan...
 I am using acrylic paints on canvas pad ...
No more room on the walls.....
I am aware that this is day 18 but it took me this long to figure out how to get the pictures onto the blog page....
Now that I know how  Look Out  Here it comes....

Holiday Weekend

How did summer get here so quickly?
Our next door neighbors have left to go back north, and on the way out, cut and brought to me these beautiful flowers..
Thank You.. Thank You.. Thank You!!!!
It has been a busy few weeks ,and I have been trying to get my yard into some kind of shape, and work and, and,......
 what with so very little rain that we have had to deal with ,I am still having fun potting and repotting all my favorite plants...
In the next few weeks family will be here from out of state and I can not wait to see them  Seems like way to long a time between visits...
I am working this weekend ,so must get on the stick

Long Time Coming

             

It has been a year since we have been able to get up here to the mountains, and I can feel myself starting to relax a bit... not there all the way yet, but hopefully it won't take much longer... I love that life is at a little slower pace here....
We are going to Asheville tonight to see Holly Bowling, and having seen her before, I am so looking forward to it... 
It is still acting like winter here, with the temperature of 42 as we speak,but yesterday afternoon it went to 72 so we opened up all the windows and doors ...man was that nice... 
I had so much fun on spring break, surprising Jenn, by showing up to help celebrate her 40th....
Amy and I had a ball spending time with family in Seattle...
Went to a Sip,Dip and Doodle for Jenn's birthday party and I got to see Becky there...
So much fun to get to paint with everyone....
Thank You to all Jenn's friends for coming to celebrate, and helping us to get it all together for a big surprise....
I painted 40 rocks for Jenn ....{ and it does}
It went by so fast, but we made good memories to last....
 I did not mean to go on and on, but it has been a while, so, to much to fit in to one entry.... closing for now, but I will be back...

Day 13 of 30 in 30

It has been a week ...
our computer is  at the shop so learning how to get things from here to there has been  a bit different for me, [The one who likes things to always be the same]....
 I have lots more pictures to share ,but I will not be able to until the old one comes back on Tuesday... I have to many tubs of slaw for all this right now, but will be back to it real soon.... Hope you all have a great weekend and stay safe....

Days 9 and 10

Not only was I a day behind but now they loaded sideways....
Anyway I used colored pencil and a blending tool to do both of these....
Molly was all covered up under her new blanket and finally warm and snuggled....
The cuppa is a cup I like with my permanent chalk markers in it.....
We are at 69 degrees today and a bit cloudy, all the doors and windows open and a light breeze is blowing through....

Day 8 of 30 in 30 Days

I just finished this one and am happy to have done so...
 I did the sketch for it last year, and wanted to get it on canvas before the season is gone again...
It is the first one I have painted for the January challenge,but glad to have it....
It is so cool today I could almost say cold....
Nice to have one day of winter....
Seems a good idea to have painted snowmen... I have painted two pre-paints today also, for classes coming up....

Day 7 of 30 in 30 Days 2017

I do not do portraits,
but I decided to try a self portrait,just to see if I could do it....and to get some practice at faces...
I really do not know, Is this what I look like????
I do know I see myself differently then other people see me...
But is this what you guys see?????
I did this from a photo and am fairly happy with it, but am not sure it looks like me....
It is pouring down rain outside... and it started last night before 11 p.m.
It woke me at 3 a.m. and at 4:30.
I have now been up over an hour and it is raining hard off and on...
Are we making up some, for the three months that we have not had any??
The temp. is going to be dropping fast, as this cold front comes through..
and it is supposed to be 32 when we get up tomorrow...
It is 72 this morning...
Very happy to have the rain....

Day 6 of 30 in 30 Days 2017

Lucy is home now and what a sweetie she is ...
She is now going to doggy day care at the same place,that they have been taking care of her, for the past 6 months.
She gets very excited, to get up and get going, back to see all her friends there each day....
She is also very excited to get home each evening as well....
So cute....
I am sure having fun doing these last few sketches in pencil....
Amy surprised me yesterday at 7 a.m, by stopping by our house with Star Bucks peppermint coco coffee,after she dropped off Lucy, and before she went to work...

We had a very busy day in the Get smart with Art class....

         

 We did three projects in an hours time ,I was only able to get photos of the first two, but how cute are these guys, working so hard and fast and having a ball doing it.....
My last two classes at PWAT have been cancelled due to lack of sign ups....
so I am keeping busy with other things, like cleaning out closets and donating to a good cause...
I have not done this since we moved in here a year and a half ago so, many thing must go......

Day 5 of 30 in 30 2017

 I do not often draw people, because I do not feel confident in it, so I am going to do some practicing with them, starting with this one, a picture of my mom on Christmas day.... It is from a photo I took and I am happy enough with this one and have decided not to add color for now...
 I am so Happy to still have her around, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.....she is now 90 years old....hard to imagine.....
I spent the rest of yesterday cleaning out three closets to be able to make some room and give some things away...
Today I am back to teaching Art cart, and I am excited to see the children after the Holiday season....It should be fun... Pictures to come later....
And here we are to Thursday of the first week of the New Year....

Day 4 of 30 in 30 Days 2017

                         B.Day Dessert

The surprise dessert that Stephanie brought me at Rusty Bellies....
It is Deep Fried Banana Cheese Cake with whipped cream topping ...
Man is it yummy....

Not all drawings turn out as I hoped, but I still had fun recalling my surprise and pleasure of the great taste,while I was trying to draw whipped cream with colored pencils....
And I think we can all agree I am not a photographer...
At nine o'clock last night we had a really good rain, the first in about three months...
It took a few minutes to realize what it was we were hearing, it had been so long....
We are supposed to get more rain on Saturday that will bring in colder weather for a bit....I for one, am ready for a bit cooler..
I have started the Happy Jar this year, to help me through the harder days...  I am now jotting down one thing each day that made me smile or made it a bit better getting through the day...
A sentence or two...
Then, when I am having a harder day, I will pull one out to help remind me ,there is always something to make me smile,or make me think,
Things are not so bad...
no matter how small,there will be something to write down each day...
Oh, sorry I am a bit wordy today,  Hope everyone has a good one.....

Day 3 of 30 in 30 Days

I love that this Christmas Cactus has bloomed more blooms every year of the twelve years that I have had it ...
And that I have a lovely memory of my Mother in Law each time it blooms...
It belonged to her, but I do not know how long she had it first.....
I am having fun doing these colored pencil sketches ...
so far a least, not as much pressure to finish, as there is with a full painting...
Plus storage is now not a problem...
It is back to work for most everyone today after a very nice holiday break...
I sure hope it is an easy, happy week to get back at it......

Day 2 of 30 in 30 Days

This is a drawing I did as an exercise, from a prompt ,for The Colored Pencil Magazine, as their January Challenge...
They showed the picture and said draw this, so I did...
Now it is my Day 2 entry....
It is back to work today for me, after some very nice days off.....

The holidays have come to an end ,and a very nice holiday season it was for me...
It comes so fast now a days and is gone before we know it...
We have a  whole New Year to get started on and I hope to start it, on the right foot... With a Positive outlook ....Many things to keep me busy... and the best of family and friends .....
It is time for me to get busy, so I am hoping it is a great week for all......
