Enter Thursday

I just loaded this painting on to Fine Art America..
It is one of my favorites from the first 30 paintings in 30 days, in oils...
We are having rain and storms today...so I thought this might brighten spirits...
It is done in such bright colors that is....
We are excited for Jenn and Andy, going through the process of buying a house...
Stressful and fun all rolled into one....
We hope to be there in time to help them move in and get settled, but we shall see...
Amy's spring break is coming up and she will be more than ready to take that break, spend some more time with her hun and that great new pup too!!!
My two classes for yesterday were cancelled ,so I had an unexpected day off to paint and relax a bit....nice...
Today I also have two classes to teach.......sure hope that doesn't happen to them.
Anyway hope it's a good weekend for everyone and don't forget to spring your clocks ahead....

End of the month

W.T.F. has been going on for the last two months at the corner of Lakeshore and Newkirk?????
Four properties full of piles ,high in the sky of dirt and large boulders, dump trucks up and down Lakeshore night and day ...W.T.F.
Anyway, here we are to the end of another month...
I was able to get another entry on the Fine Art America web site yesterday, and to add a link to it here on my blog.
So" Cheers" to a new month, tomorrow.....Spring is on it's way...Yeah!!
I also taught Tiffany's last night to 30 people and that went well. Thank you! Thank You!
It will be another very busy weekend, so we shall see what I get done here, and when...
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend...

Prints of Aidan's Trucks and Cars painting

I am working on how to hook Fine Art America to my blog so I can post and link them together...
so we shall see..
Yesterday was a beautiful day and Wy and I got to take a ride over to Safety Harbor.
It is so close to home and so reminds one of the Old Florida.
we had lunch at a little place called Whistle Stop grill and it was more eating outside than in..
A nice cool breeze, made it a very pleasant experience.
we than rode by the Bowling Ball House so that Wy could see it live...
Very Interesting neighborhood..
Artists have used recycled materials to decorate many things outside and in,more then one home here....
If you have not been,it is worth a visit to see....
This is the painting I did of the first house, from my first visit to see it...

Fine Art

I was able to get these two more paintings listed on my Fine Art America site, so now you can get prints of these paintings too...
I am slowly learning the ropes for being able to bring my art work to the public...
I am keeping very busy these days ,but am also very happy about that...
The yard is really beginning to look like spring is coming and that also makes me a happy girl...
How can this be the last week of February already????
Hope this last week will be good to all...

I have been at bit busy with many other things, of late..
What with work and all, but am very excited to have gotten a start on it.
I was able to get two of my barn paintings up today. Tomorrow I start the pet portrait sketches for this Sunday's class. I have nine of the 21 pictures sent in so far.
The car has to get an oil change too ,so we shall see what else I will get accomplished

Beautiful Sunday

I told a friend recently about an art project she might like to do with her art class at school and decided to make a sample to show her what it looked like.. this is the example I did today before work...It is an old palm frond from out of my yard...painted with acrylic paints ..an elephant....
This was a project that the art teacher Robin, that I worked with at Lee Academy did with her upper grade students and I was so impressed with how they turned out...I have been meaning to do one since then..so here it is finally....Lots of fun to do with not much time invested...

We had the most wonderful warm sunny day today..
After so many days in the last few weeks of rain and cloudy weather this day made up for it all.
.73 degrees light wind blowing. So nice..
To bad I had to spend most of it in doors at work but I still enjoyed see and feeling the sun again..

Feb 4th. Now for Something Completely Different

I followed along with a on line work shop given by one of my favorite artists... Julie Dumbarton,  an artist in Scotland...
She does the most beautiful abstract Landscapes..
They are also done on some of the largest canvas I have seen....
Thank You Julie, for sharing your gift with all of us from all over the world..
I sure do need to do more of this kind of work to loosen my grip on realism....
I am very happy with the water, but not so much with the clouds.. oh well I will try again...
It is far from my comfort zone but was lot of fun for me to do something so different...
I am very late in sending my photos but have been busy, so will do that now...
I used acrylic instead of oils, because I was still doing the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge in oils and had them everywhere drying and just could not manage another oil painting just then... I will try it again in oils and bigger , it was so much fun...
Thank You!! Thank You!!

 I am a happy girl..
It took many tries but I never gave up and here is the result...YEAH!!!!!

Day 31 of 30 in 30 Days

 WOW!!!!
Here is my collage and I am so pleased to see them all together...
I have had so much fun playing with the oil paints and making big messes as I learned and grow as an artist ...
Thank You Leslie ,so much for issuing this challenge again and for getting me out of my comfort zone to learn to use oils...
I am so very happy to be able to see what I can do...with a little paint ...
 Good times...

Day 30 of 30 in 30 Days

                         Lemons
                          8x10
                        Oil on Canvas

Lots of nice color and texture on the very last painting of the challenge.
I used the palette knife for the texture..
I wanted to do the lemons because I had already done the grapefruit and the oranges, even if both of those were on the trees.. My lime tree is bare.
A citrus series...
I bought these lemons and they were sitting on the counter waiting...
I have 7 or 8 new paintings to pre- paint for work coming up.
I shall see what I will paint next....

This is a photo of the kitchen window sill in North Carolina.
I am some what pleased with it now...
The painting that is...
The photo of the painting, not so much..
I think they all look better in person of course,
but the best I can do for now, while they are still so wet....
The last one tomorrow... what will it be???

Day 28 of 30 in 30 Days

                        "Gala"
                         8x10
                        Oil on Canvas

These gala apples were sitting on the counter, begging to be the center of attention....
I am very pleased with the color and subject matter..
I think this one is a go...
It looks much better in person, but at least I didn't get the bad flash glare that I have been getting lately.... Thank You, Thank You for that.....

               " Sea Gulls"
                 11x14
                Oil on Canvas

The photo for this painting was again taken at the beach at Fred Howard Park...
I had a ball watching the sea gulls, watching the people at the beach..
I used a purple for the shadows of the trees and maybe would  have been better of to use a blue, but it is done now so...
I can not believe there are only a few more days in this month... It sure went by fast...

                              Oil on Canvas

This is a painting from a photo I took at Fred Howard Park Beach, just after the sun went down...
I have been wanting to paint it and this was a good day to do so....
The sky was just getting dark enough to make the moon really shine...
I am very happy with the results of this one....

                            Oil on Canvas

I love these head vases and have started a small collection of them... I was storing my brushes in them, but have decided that is not really a good idea, so...I took this picture and than took the brushes out ...
This is my work space...
I used only brushes on this one and lots of bright color...
Happy Birthday Teresa!!!

Day 22 of 30 in 30 Days

"Florida Oranges"
8x10
Oil on Canvas

This is the other tree I planted many years ago, and this one has produced fruit for a long time now.. The last two years however ,it has filled with fruit in the rainy season and then every orange completely  dried up as we went into the dry season... so, no oranges for me .
It  is still a very nice tree...
I feel like I was a bit heavy handed with this painting... but it turn out okay...
And some day I might even get the photo right...
Oh well on to the next...

  " Dry Dock"
    9x12
Oil on Canvas

The boat that Steve built and gave to Woody just before Woody got sick... Steve has it back now, but it dry docked at our house for a while...
I used mellow color and both brush and palette knife on it...
I have also now started a painting with an artist that is giving a workshop on line, a lesson a day to end up with a finished painting... very exciting.. I just really love her work and she does huge paintings with lots of bright color...
Julie Dumbarton fine art...She's great... Based in Langham, in the Scottish Borders
This too should be fun....
